Year 1 - 1C

Welcome to Year 1. My name is Lisa Camerlengo andI am very happy and excited to be teaching your child this year here at Mooloolah State School.  Some of you already know me as I was teaching here at Mooloolah in 2014 and 2015 and I had the pleasure of teaching some of your older children.  For those that don’t know me – I will give you a little history of myself:
I have been teaching for just over 25 years now (oops – that’s giving my age away!!) and have taught a variety of subjects and year levels.  I have a Bachelor of Teaching Primary (majoring in Early Education) and a Masters Degree of Applied Linguistics. I commenced my teaching career as an English Language teacher in Japan where I lived for almost 4 years. When I returned to Australia I was fortunate enough to land a position teaching Japanese and ESL at a Private School in Brisbane.  I stayed at this school for 11 years where I was lucky enough to teach Japanese (Grades 5-9) LOTE and then grade 7, grade 4 and Prep respectively. Since leaving the Private School and moving to the Sunshine Coast I have taught at many state schools and have covered all year levels.  I am very happy and excited to be back teaching in the Early Years……it is a refreshing change and I am blessed to have such a beautiful class this year.
I have two boys, Luca and Noah, who attend Mooloolah and they are in grades 3 and 4.
I am looking forward to a great year with all your beautiful children.

As you would all be aware we have implemented a new behaviour program in our school which we are all following.  The children are responding really well to this and are loving “Fun Fridays.” I know there have been a few concerns about kids missing out on their first choice of task but I can assure you they all have a good understanding of how it works and in any case, I have such a beautiful class that we have not yet had one child miss out on anything they have wanted to do.
I have also implemented Class Dojo. If you have not yet joined could you please try and do so. This is a great tool for communication.  I can send out messages to you all in one go and you can also message me at any time.  I do try and give points on a daily basis, but please don’t be concerned if there are days I have not awarded points.  Some days are so busy and hectic that I just don’t get to it.  If you have any questions about Class Dojo please don’t hesitate to come and see me.

I am looking forward to getting to know you and your beautiful children better as the year progresses.
Please don’t hesitate to come in and see me or email me at any time if you have any concerns.
