Mooloolah State School is committed to every student reaching their potential. Our whole school vision is one of inclusiveness for ALL students.

Our Inclusion staff at Mooloolah SS are guided by a full-time Head of Special Education (HOSES) Donna Asponall and includes three experienced teachers (Julia Moroney, Deborah Lane and Alison Duncan), a team of resourceful skilled teacher aides, as well as being supported by a Guidance Officer (Jodie Runge) who visits our school every Tuesday. Head of Early Years (Kristy Forrest) manages the RTI – early intervention program for students needing extra teaching in the area of Literacy.

A Student Services Committee operates fortnightly to ensure intervention is explored and provided for identified students.  All student referrals must be supported by parental permission before an initial consultation can be undertaken.

Students with Disabilities
Support for students with disabilities is provided through a supportive, inclusive model.  All students are included in regular classrooms but still have access to focused and intensive, group and individual support as needed.  Eligible students are supported with an Individual Curriculum Plan and additional teacher/teacher aide time is given to support students as required.  Ongoing parent involvement and communication is an important aspect of our support.

Visiting Specialist Staff
Our Guidance Officer provides a range of services including; assessments, counselling, placement and referral to community agencies.  The services are accessed through a referral process and prioritised at the Student Services Committee.

Krystelle Pobar.PNGKrystelle Pobar is our Student Wellbeing Psychologist at Mooloolah State School on Mondays. Krystelle provides short-term psychological therapy to students who are experiencing mental health concerns (anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD) and students who need support with navigating stressful environments (family separation, changes to home circumstances).
Students can be referred to Krystelle through the student support team. If you have concerns about your student please raise them with their classroom teacher who will refer them to the student support team.

A Speech Language Pathologist visits fortnightly (Stephanie Bowman).  Students are referred for speech language therapy by their class teachers and prioritised for support through our Student Services Committee.

Advisory Visiting Teachers, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists visit regularly and provide support for eligible students.
